Jed has been known for his own version of the most memorable ballads. Now in his seventh album he did new songs.
During his album press con last October 13 held at Patio Carlito, Pinoy Mag’s asked him on what were the biggest challenges on his brand new album “Breathe Again” he shares, “one of the challenges siguro the fact na we are trying to promote original songs, it’s a big risk. With the status of the music industry now especially the audience (now) medyo ayaw nilang to be exposed to something new they’re more comfortable mostly to cover songs, revival but with the present status of the industry now na wala ng bagong songs, wala ng bagong composers something has to be done and we’ve decided to focus on the original songs this time. It’s a challenge for us to promote new material na sana tanggapin ng tao. Ako kasi every album ko sobra akong hands on, from the choosing of the songs, with the actual recording, up to the album packaging, lahat nakikialam ako. The entire album is a challenge every time kasi syempre most of the fact na my past albums did very well, so kailangan ‘yung susunod dapat hihigitan pa.”
“Breathe Again” will soon be released at your favorite record bars and consists of nine original songs, including the tittle track, which also serves as its first single.
“We planned it talaga na kailangan this time it has to be originals, I’ve been in the business for quite sometime already, six albums already siguro makakatulong pa rin yun. Those albums went all Platinums and hopefully itong pang seven, what ever we present to the audience and to the listeners, sana tangkilikin din nila. We really pay so much attention in choosing of the songs para hindi ma-disappoint ‘yung tao na iba talaga from a lot of revivals then biglang original kaagad. So ‘yun pinagplanuhan namin ng Universal Records na talagang step by step kung ano ang gagawin namin for this album (Breathe Again),” he said.
Aside from the signature soaring ballads he’s known for, the album contains the upbeat “I Have You Here” and “We’re Having A Party”, and a duet with Malaysian idol Nikki Palikat, “Your Moment To Shine.”
The said album also features five covers, including the standard song from Fra Lippo Lippi “Later” which Jed shares that it was a requested song from Kris Aquino.
Also, Jed will headline a special concert “Beyond Expectations” this November 26 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines with Ballet Manila, Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera.
